Dr Devran Gulel completed her PhD in law at the University of Portsmouth, where she was fully funded (2017-2021). She has an MA in European Studies from the University of Hamburg, DE, and previously worked as the Jean Monnet Scholar of Turkey (2015-2017) at Lund University, SE, researching gender equality and women’s welfare in the Nordic countries.

Devran conducts gender-focused interdisciplinary research in a variety of fields, including law, politics, and organisational studies. Her interests encompass feminism and gender politics within a global context, human rights in authoritarian regimes, women’s labour market participation and workplace representation, and misogyny in political discourse, the judiciary, and law enforcement.

Devran has also taught a diverse range of modules, including European Union law, identity politics, global feminism, and comparative politics.
