I am a Senior Lecturer at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Portsmouth. I joined the university in December 2017.
I completed my BSc and MSc degrees at Bilkent University in Turkey. After finishing my master's degree, I pursued my PhD at the University of Nottingham, as a part of CeDEx.
Research Interests
My research focuses on behavioural and experimental economics. I conduct laboratory, online, and field experiments to study economic decision-making. My research lies at the crossroads of economics, management, political science, and social psychology. I am particularly interested in how biases affect people's decision-making. Some of the topics I have worked on include:
- Overconfidence, motivated beliefs, and belief updating
- Gender biases, ethnic and racial discrimination
- Competitive behaviour, behaviour in teams, team decision-making
- NHS Leadership, diverse leadership
Teaching Responsibilities
I teach several undergraduate modules and currently serve as the module coordinator for first-year Mathematics for Economics. Additionally, I teach the Psychology and Altruism Module at the second-year undergraduate level and supervise dissertation students on the topics of "Behavioural Economics".
