I am a property lawyer, and my research focuses on the law of succession. I am also the REF Co-ordinator for the LAW Unit of Assessment.

I studied Philosophy at Pembroke College, Cambridge before taking the CPE and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, York. I qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and specialized in commercial property. I taught on the LLB, the Post-Graduate Diploma in Law, and the Legal Practice Course at Manchester Metropolitan University before joining the University of Portsmouth as a Senior Lecturer in 2013.

I am interested in all aspects of property law, in particular the interaction between equity and land law. My current research focuses on the law of succession. I have researched issues relating to testamentary capacity and have carried out research into the operation of dispensing powers in other common law jurisdictions. I am currently a member of the Law Society's Wills & Equity Committee.

I teach land law, equity & trusts, and the law of succession, in addition to the conveyancing part of the CILEX module. I have also taught family law in the past and have extensive experience of teaching on post-graduate professional law courses.
