End Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

16 Days of Activism – AEGIS Directors' Statement

AEGIS today (November 25th) launches 16 days of reflections on different aspects of its work focused on ending VAWG as part of the global 16 days of activism. This year the 16 days campaign is ever more important as the world suffers continuous fragility felt most acutely by the most vulnerable. There is a growing body of research that alerts us to the deepening backlash to the impressive inroads the global movement for gender equality has made. As we see more and more political regimes emerge shaped by blatant misogyny and racism we are reminded yet again this year of the importance of remaining in solidarity with these who support and champion human rights and a respect for intersectional identities across the globe.

The struggle for social justice remains real and our collective responsibility in achieving it never more urgent. May this next 16 days further consolidate and strengthen the global movement for gendered transformation and an end to all forms of violence.
